This was painted from a watercolor sketch I did on location in Kalabaka, Greece located at the foothills of Meteora. Each peak of the mountain formation has a monastery. For years the only means up was in a basket with a rope. Thank God for modern ingenuity. We drove to the top of the mountains and that was scary enough.
